Distributed rooftop PV for commercial and industrial customers has become an increasingly attractive option for cutting energy costs and improving ESG performance under the “self-consumption with surplus on-grid” policy environment.
Across the projects we have participated in, three dimensions often decide whether a solution truly lands:
- Roof load and structural safety — front-loaded structural assessment is essential, with different treatments for concrete versus metal roofs.
- Grid absorption capacity — proactive coordination with the utility on capacity and substation limits avoids the “installed but not connectable” trap.
- 20-year O&M plan — module degradation, cleaning cycles and inverter replacement all need to be planned upfront.
